We visited a private school in San Jose yesterday. Some teachers monkied around while waiting for school to start (second pic). Classical music played to signal the start of the day and some elementary students put up the flag (first pic).
I spent some time exploring the school. I met two sixth grade science students from Venezuela and they showed me a picture of an experiment they had recently done where they dissolved an eggshell (third pic). I then checked out a chemistry classroom (fourth through sixth pics).
I have lots more to share about this school, but I must go get on the bus now or be left behind.
Any comme nts about that teacher's desk?
ReplyDeleteMaybe its just the photograph, but the classroom doesn't seem to have very many things in it like ours do. And the teachers desk seems very neat and tidy!(: Where those supposed to be science classrooms? (I see the sinks or what could be lab desks in the back of one of them...)Just out of curiousity, was this what a common pubic school looks like in Costa Rica?

Even thought the classrooms don't have any things in them, they still seem to be well organized and clean classrooms. Do you know if they teach the same things we do? How many students are in one class? Also, I couldn't help but notice the very nice computer on the teacher's desk. Do most schools there have technology like that? If so, what other technological items do they have?

I noticed the yellow chemistry poster. I was wondering in Costa Rica do they learn close to the same curriculum as we have? They (obviously) must learn chemistry; do they also have biology classes, physics classes, and environment classes too? And if so, at what grade levels do they take those classes?

Wow, I was really surprised to see how nice, clean and well put together the classrooms are, seeing as Coasta Rica is a second world country. What grades are taught at this specific school, and if it goes into high school students, do they have advanced, like AP classes or is it just a generic curriculum? I noticed that the teachers desk didn't have a computer, were there any in the school? Also, I noticed the playground equiptment that the teacher was playing on, do the students have recess?
